Evidence-based biokinetics and human movement science — helping clients move better, recover stronger and perform with confidence.
Understanding biokinetics
What is a biokineticist?
A biokineticist is a registered allied health professional who uses scientific exercise as medicine to treat and rehabilitate injury, illness and chronic conditions. Unlike a personal trainer or physiotherapist, a biokineticist specialises in prescribing exercise to restore physical function after injury or surgery — and to manage conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and arthritis. In South Africa, biokineticists are registered with the HPCSA and work alongside doctors, physiotherapists and surgeons as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
At Form Kinetics, every programme begins with understanding how your body moves. From there, we build structured rehabilitation, movement correction and performance pathways tailored entirely to you.
Movement & biomechanical assessment
Detailed analysis of how your body moves, compensates and performs — the foundation of every programme.
Injury rehabilitation
Structured, progressive exercise-based recovery from surgery, sports injuries and chronic pain.
Posture & movement correction
Restore alignment, improve movement quality and reduce daily discomfort through targeted exercise.
Clinical exercise therapy
Evidence-based programmes for cardiac conditions, diabetes, hypertension and chronic disease management.
Preventative care
Identify imbalances early, correct movement patterns and reduce the risk of future injury.
Performance enhancement
Return-to-sport pathways, running gait analysis and strength conditioning built around your goals.
Strength & conditioning
One-on-one training that blends clinical biokinetics with safe, measurable strength progression.
Chronic pain management
Intelligent, progressive loading to improve mobility, build resilience and restore confidence in movement.
When should you see a biokineticist?
- Recovering from surgery or a sports injury
- Managing chronic back, neck or joint pain
- Returning to running, gym training or sport
- Living with diabetes, heart disease or hypertension
- Correcting posture or recurring movement niggles
- Seeking performance improvement with clinical oversight

Walter Garner
Biokineticist & Movement Specialist
Walter didn't arrive at biokinetics by accident. Growing up with a deep passion for sport and the human body, he spent over a decade working as a sport scientist, personal trainer and human movement science specialist before completing his BA Honours in Biokinetics with a specialisation in Orthopaedic Rehabilitation. That 13-year foundation in movement, performance and coaching gave him something most clinicians don't have — a real understanding of what it feels like to train hard, get injured, and need to come back stronger.
What drives Walter is simple: he believes that intelligent, evidence-based movement is one of the most powerful medicines available. He has personally guided rehabilitation programs for over 160 patients, achieving measurable improvements in mobility and strength — and a 90% patient satisfaction rate. Whether he is working with someone recovering from ACL surgery, managing a chronic condition like diabetes or cardiovascular disease, or helping an athlete return to peak performance, Walter brings the same level of care, precision and commitment to every session.
Walter has a particular passion for working with people who feel let down by generic gym programs or who have been told to 'just rest' after an injury. He works closely with physicians, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to make sure every client receives comprehensive, connected care — not an isolated session. His clients range from desk-bound professionals dealing with chronic back pain, to competitive athletes, to patients managing long-term conditions through exercise as medicine.
The Form Kinetics Experience Overview

The Form Kinetics methodology
How biokinetic rehabilitation works
Biokinetics is the science of using exercise as medicine. Walter combines clinical assessment, evidence-based rehabilitation and personalised programming to restore movement, relieve pain and rebuild confidence — whether you're recovering from injury, managing a chronic condition, or returning to the activities you love.
Comprehensive Assessment
Walter conducts a detailed biomechanical evaluation to understand how your body moves, compensates and performs — identifying the root causes of pain or limitation.
Personalised Programming
Every exercise programme is tailored to your specific injury, goals, lifestyle and movement patterns — no generic templates, only targeted, progressive rehabilitation.
Guided Progression
Walter guides you through every movement with hands-on supervision, ensuring proper technique, safe progression and measurable improvements session by session.
Why movement assessment matters
Pain is often a symptom, not the cause. Walter's assessment approach looks beyond the injury site to identify compensations, weaknesses and movement patterns that may have contributed to your condition — and could lead to future issues if left unaddressed.
This understanding allows Walter to design rehabilitation that doesn't just treat symptoms, but rebuilds your movement foundation for lasting recovery and performance. Whether you're a desk worker with chronic back pain, a runner with recurring injuries, or someone recovering from surgery, the assessment provides the roadmap for your return to full function.
